Borrowing

Students, faculty and staff of Midway University may borrow books, videos, and other materials from Little Memorial Library.  Borrowing privileges are also extended to students from other Kentucky academic institutions, Midway community residents, and guests of the university for a loan of two weeks.

1. Students--Books are loaned for 4 weeks. One renewal is permitted providing no other patron has requested that item or that the borrower has no overdue items.  The library does not charge a daily overdue fee. However, it does bill your Midway University Business Office account each semester for items not returned by one week after Finals.

2. Faculty/Staff--Books are loaned until the end of the semester in which the book is checked out, but it is understood that materials will be returned before the due date if others have requested them.

3. Community residents, visiting students and other guests--Guests may register with the library to use the computers and wireless and to check out materials.  Materials are loaned for 2 weeks.

4. Videos are loaned for 7 days.

5. Reference books and periodicals do not circulate.

Interlibrary Loan

Interlibrary loan permits Midway College faculty, staff and students to borrow resources from several thousand cooperating libraries. Requests are placed electronically to participating libraries that possess the item sought. The following procedures apply :

  • The borrower must complete an Interlibrary Loan Request Form, available at the reference desk , on the library's web site, or from the electronic database itself.
  • Borrowers must allow a minimum of one week for receipt of materials.
  • Generally, the borrower will incur no costs for the interlibrary loan. Occasionally, the lending library will charge for the items. In this case, the circulation supervisor will inform the borrower beforehand.
  • Books are to be returned by the due date as specified by the lending library.
  • Lost items will be assessed the replacement cost as well as a $25.00 processing fee.
  • Within any calendar year, the library may not request more than 5 copies of material from any one work that was published within the previous five years.

Students may also borrow materials directly from other Kentucky colleges and universities that are a member of FoKAL.  You must have a Midway University student ID card.
