What is the Academic Attendance Activity?
All online courses at Midway University have an Academic Attendance Activity that must be completed within the first 7 days of classes. It is an activity, like a written assignment, quiz or forum post based on the first week's lecture/reading, that requires the student to work with the course's subject matter.
Why does Midway University have an Academic Attendance Activity?
Instructors use participation in the Academic Attendance Activity to certify that a student is attending online classes for Federal Financial Aid purposes. Failure to complete the Academic Attendance Activity may result in you being recorded as absent and dropped from the class. If you are receiving financial aid, failure to complete the Academic Attendance Activity may result in the loss of your financial aid.
How can I make sure I've completed the Academic Attendance Activity?
The best way is to make sure you are active in your courses and complete all the assigned work during the first week of the semester. The Academic Attendance Activity will not be satisfied by merely logging into Moodle, looking at your syllabus or introducing yourself in a forum. The Academic Attendance Activity will be an activity that requires you to interact with the course material, such as a written assignment, quiz or forum post based on the first week's lecture/reading. Some professors specify which activity in the first week of classes they will use for the Academic Attendance Activity. If you have any questions about whether you have completed the Academic Attendance Activity for your course, please contact your professor before the end of the first week of classes.
