Learning with Technology

This guide is for students who need help or tips using technology in their classes. You'll find instructions for everything from making multimedia presentations, creating videos using Power Point to using classroom specific tools like Socrative.

Using Active Learning Tools

Socrative

Socrative is a free, web-based "Student Response" tool. It allows faculty to create quizzes (using multiple choice, true/false and short answer questions) and polls that they can show in class. The students can access and take the quiz from a computer or phone without needing a login to the Socrative site. They receive immediate feedback that the faculty member can also see, allowing them to determine if the students are 'getting it.'

Padlet

Padlet is a web-based tool that students can access without a login during class on a phone or computer. It allows the instructor to create polls, solicit feedback and encourage participation. Student input to these activities looks like electronic post-it notes on the Padlet webpage. Padlets can be saved, linked to a blog or other website or deleted to start fresh.
