Teaching with Technology

Designing instruction when teaching with technology - TPACK

What is the role of technology in teaching and learning? The TPACK Model helps to answer that question. TPACK stands for Technology, Pedagogy and Content Knowledge. The TPACK Model is a framework for integrating technology into the classroom, It emphasizes that technology is only one part of the triad required to make a successful lesson. Content Knowledge and Pedagogical knowledge are equally important.

Content Knowledge (CK) is the "what." It is the knowledge teachers have about the subjects they teach.
Pedagogical Knowledge (PK) is the "how." It describes how different content areas are best taught, encompassing, among other things, understanding how students learn, general classroom management skills, lesson planning, and student assessment.
Technology Knowledge (TK) is the teacher's knowledge of how technology tools can be incorporated into the curriculum to enhance learning of content in a pedagogically sound manner.
