The Center at Midway for Teaching Excellence and Innovation supports student success by engaging all Midway University faculty in a scholarly approach to teaching and foster a culture of inclusive excellence in teaching learning. Our faculty development programs explore what it means to develop and demonstrate teaching expertise, recognizing not only the complexities of teaching, but also that teaching expertise is developed through a learning process that continues over time.
The Spring 2019 Faculty Development program is divided into four program areas:
The Faculty Development Program provides 20 hours of professional development instruction. Part-time faculty are invited to attend any sessions that interest them. All full-time faculty are required to take 15 hours during Spring 2019 Semester. All faculty who are not governed by an outside accrediting body (i.e. Nursing, Teacher Education) are required to attend the Assessment Program Review 3 part series.
Some of the faculty development sessions will require online registration. Required registration will be designated in the program description. Online registration will be quick and easy and a link to the registration will be sent to your email. Registration may be limited and will be on a first-come, first-served basis. If you cannot attend a session for which you have registered, please notify thecenter@midway.edu as soon as possible so that another faculty may be permitted to attend.
In general, refreshments will not be served at all faculty development sessions, unless designated otherwise in the program description. If the session takes place in the breakfast or lunch time frame, participants are welcome to bring their own food and/or beverage.
Faculty will be asked to complete an online evaluation form for each faculty development session attended. The evaluation form will be sent out as link in an email following the session. We welcome your input at any time and particularly welcome your suggestions for additional sessions or programs in faculty development. Please forward your comments to ebloomfield@midway.edu
Additional sessions may be scheduled throughout the year. Faculty will be notified via e-mail of additional faculty development sessions. It is also possible that a session may be cancelled or rescheduled. Any session changes or cancellations will be noted on The Center@Midway website. www.midway.edu/thecenter
