Establish Modes of Communication

If an emergency situation causes a campus closure or prevents you from coming to campus, it is important for you to use the electronic communication tools in the University system.  The following are tools we have to facilitate communication.

  • University Email
  • Set up Mobile Devices for Office365
  • Microsoft Teams
  • Moodle Announcement
Please note, it is not recommended to use Moodle Chat as a reliable source of communication between you and your students.  It is best to use Midway University email or Microsoft Teams.
  • Phone
It will be important that students have access to call you.  If you are a full-time employee you can publish your RingCentral extension in your Moodle course shell.  If you are an adjunct, we ask that you provide a phone number so that your students can contact you. Midway University does not endorse texting students with your personal phone.  We ask that you use Microsoft Teams for text-based messaging.

Preparedness Checklist

The Center at Midway for Teaching Excellence and Innovation advises faculty to consider activities that enable continuity of instruction in the event of high student/faculty absenteeism or changes to normal campus operations due to pandemic illness, natural disaster, unsafe conditions, or unforeseen emergencies. During such an event, it is prudent to minimize disruption to the essential processes of teaching and learning, while maintaining the health and safety of the campus community. The following resources will assist faculty in continuing instruction in the event of an extended disruption to standard University operations.

Please contact thecenter@midway.edu for any questions related to this site.
